The Latinitas Media Career & College Conference will be hosted at UTEP on Thursday, June 11th with the goal of inspiring the next generation of media professionals. Latinitas, a nonprofit focused on empowering girls through media, is collaborating with UTEP to train local high school girls interested in careers in the media industry. This collaborative event will offer teens an opportunity to participate in hands-on media enrichment workshops to imagine themselves as future newspaper reporters, web editors, news anchors, radio DJs or photojournalists. Participants will tour the UTEP campus, meet with media professionals, hear from college students majoring in communication and listen to a panel of college professors. Professional media producers will train girls how to use their own experiences and digital technology to create media. Girls in grades 9th through 12th are invited to participate in this event. Space is limited, so registration is required. For more information, email latinitasaly@yahoo.com or call 219.8554.
