Summer Camp - Registration Open

This summer, girls in grades 4-8th are invited to find their creative expression outlet by producing original multimedia arts projects in the Latinitas Media Divas Summer Camp. In this week-long day camp program, girls will explore multimedia arts such as photography, writing, art, design, radio production and film-making. Pre-registration is required. Teen Media Academy - Registration Open

Calling all aspiring female journalists and media producers. Latinitas is hosting a week-long summer camp for high school girls with intensive instruction from media producers. The camp features field trips to local media stations as well as hands-on workshops led by professional media producers.  During the camp, you will complete an article, photo essay, blog, audio podcast and a video broadcast.  The camp will also feature field trips to KFox, Power 102 and UTEP as well presentations by professional TV reporters, radio journalists, photographers and much more. Latinitas is Hiring - Summer Youth Jobs

Latinitas is partnering with Workforce Solutions for the Summer Youth Program.  As part of this initiative, Latinitas will provide on-the-job training for youth ages 16-24 during the summer.  Latinitas will provide paid internships for Latina high school and college students with training on becoming multimedia producers.  Interns will work with professional and college mentors to learn about magazine feature writing, blogging, creating podcasts, taking photographs and making videos.  Interns must meet eligibility guidelines established by Workforce Solutions including income requirements.  For more information, contact Latinitas at 239.5051 or latinitaselpaso@yahoo.com

Stay Teen Day - May 28

Latinitas is a part of the hosting committee for the upcoming Stay Teen Day.  The event is geared toward raising awareness of the issue of teen pregnancy and encouraging youth to stay teen and postpone parenthood.  During Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month in May, this full-day conference is aimed at uniting and educating teens for a positive change.  This free event will feature testimonials from teen parents about the challenges of being a young parent as well as an exhibit of information tables and a carnival of fun teen-friendly activities where kids can celebrate being young.  Stay Teen Day will take place Friday, May 28th from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the EPCC Administrative Building (9050 Viscount).

The event is organized by the Stay Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition of El Paso Members: Child Crisis Center of El Paso, Communities in Schools, Department of Public Health, ESC Region XIX, Health & Human services Commission, Latinitas, March of Dimes, Project VIDA Health Center, School Age Parent Center, The Medical Institute, and the University Medical Center of El Paso.   The event is sponsored by the Superior Health Plan and the El Paso First Health Plan.
