For Girls in Grades 9-12

Chicas Advancing in Media Project is a summer-long multimedia training program for high school girls with a focus on helping girls build confidence through multimedia expression. Throughout the summer, our team will participate in media trainings led by local media makers and field trips to local media outlets. With bi-weekly meetings, teens will have an opportunity to get tips from the pros and meet a magazine editor, newspaper reporter, photojournalist, radio DJ and TV news anchor. With hands-on media workshops, girls will learn about self-expression through writing, photography, audio production, poetry and film-making. During the summer, teens will also complete an article, photo essay, audio podcast and a video broadcast. Our team members will also write articles and create multimedia projects for publication in LatinitasMagazine.org, a digital magazine by and for local Latina youth.
