Meet a teen magazine editor! Discover how you can create your own zine and blog. Write a blog, research magazine layout, surf cool websites, write stories, make stylish designs, and publish your newsletter to share with friends. Girls in grades 4-8th will become a graphic guru by practicing with desktop publishing software. The free Latinitas Saturday Camp is hosted the 4th Saturday of every month from 10:30am to 12:30pm at La Fe Cultural and Technology Center 721 South Ochoa (rear building). Girls Making Media Project

Weekly After School Meetings
Located at Various El Paso Public Libraries

Latinitas is kicking off a series of free weekly after-school clubs where girls can gather to find creative ways to express themselves. In this girl-friendly place, Latinitas in middle and high school will explore visual art, graphic design, web publishing, radio production, writing, journalism and film making. Each week will offer a different hands-on workshop where girls can discover the power of media. The clubs are held after school every week at the following public libraries:
  • Richard Burges Public Library (9600 Dyer) Every Monday
  • Main Public Library (501 N Oregon) Every Monday
  • Judge Marquez Public Library (610 N. Yarbrough) Every Tuesday
  • Armijo Public Library (620 E. 7th Ave) Every Wednesday
  • Clardy Fox Public Library (5515 Robert Alva) Every Thursday
  • Ysleta Public Library ( 9321 Alameda) Every Friday

Latinitas Magazine is seeking female high-school students, ages 14 to 18, interested in journalism to contribute to the teen version of www.LatinitasMagazine.org. Latinitas will host an orientation for junior reporters on February 28th at 1:30 to 3:30pm at Armijo Public Library located at 620 E. 7th Avenue. Latinitas is dedicated to creating greater Latina representation in the media by training the next generation of Latina media makers. This is a great opportunity for aspiring journalists to be published in a growing magazine and have their voice heard! We are looking for fresh ideas on all content related to Latina youth culture appropriate for high-school students.
